On our second day in Bali, I woke up extra early to catch the sunrise by the beach. I practically had the beach to myself and the morning serenity was absolutely blissful. At home, I wake up everyday even before the sunrise but I never get the chance to just pause and marvel at its beauty because there are always more pressing things to attend to such as catching the bus so as not to be late for work. That’s why Bali will always be special for me; it reminded me of the importance of taking a break and enjoying the simplest, smallest things that actually mean the most.
A little before 7AM, I could already see the sun peeking a bit shyly from behind the fluffy clouds. I remember feeling excited yet oddly calm because what I’m about to witness then was a natural and everyday occurrence; it just so happened that I don’t see it often.
While taking the next series of photos, I was torn between immortalizing the moment and dropping everything to just enjoy it in its complete, uninterrupted beauty. And then I decided I should do both at the same time.
And that concludes my sunrise session in Bali. I felt like a renewed person after. I want to be able to remember those precious moments by the beach whenever my life feels blah. Just a little reminder that when all else fails, just go back to basics.
